In this month’s blog, we’re wrapping up the final personality trait, which psychologists call Openness to Experience. This personality trait describes your cognitive style or how you think about the world around you.

Researchers in psychology are discovering that we are in control of a large part of how we view the world, interpret, and make meaning!

Not only can mental toughness provide an effective way to deal with stressors, it can also help individuals seek out opportunities for personal growth due to having a higher level of confidence in their own abilities.

Setting goals is an initial step, maintaining motivation, and creating behavior change is harder! We get it, we have all been there. So how can we make our goals effective in the present?

When focusing on college-aged students, ranging from age 18 to 24, studies have found that between 70-85% of them were suffering from psychological distress, particularly anxiety and depressive symptoms (Saleh, Camart, & Romo, 2017).
